SP's: The latest Windows 10 Insider preview is coming with nested virtualization or Windowception. Read more about the Windows in Windows within your Windows.

Running a virtual machine for various testing purposes is just another task for the developers. But, have you ever used a virtual machine inside a virtual machine? More like Windows in Windows within your Windows PC?

Does it remind you of the layered dreams from the movie Inception? Well, I’m calling it Windowception – the latest Window 10 Insider Preview comes with the nested virtualization support. This means, you can run Windows in Windows within your Windows.

Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that the company is building nested virtualization that will allow people to run  Hyper-V Containers in Hyper-V virtual machines. Though the company hasn’t yet released Hyper-V containers, for the time being you can try out this feature with Hyper-V virtualization.

This feature virtualizes certain hardware features that are required to run a hypervisor in a virtual machine. Nested virtualization exposes hardware virtualization support to guest virtual machines. This allows you to install Hyper-V in a guest virtual machine, and create more virtual machines “within” that underlying virtual machine.

“Nested virtualization exposes hardware virtualization support to guest virtual machines. This allows you to install Hyper-V in a guest virtual machine, and create more virtual machines “within” that underlying virtual machine,” Microsoft writes on its blog.
