Most of us, in fact, all of us have dreamt about owning a flying car at one point of time (not everyone can buy a private jet or chopper, right?) and fly high. Up above the world, soaring in the sky, far from the blaring horns and infuriating traffic.
Well, more futuristic than ‘of the future’ ( as some are in the prototype stages), the flying car is everyone’s fantasy.
So, if you have the money and are willing to shell it on these contraptions, then go ahead my friend, not everyone is as lucky as you. But, which one of the flying machines should you go for- The Beauty or The Beast? Take a look at these badass flying cars and pick your future ride.
1. PAL-V One
Is this a scooter or a chopper? PAL-V One will confuse you by its design, but once you are in the air, well, who cares! The Personal Air and Land Vehicle takes just about 10 minutes to convert from a road bike to an air carrier and can take you to 4,000 feet height.
The PAL-V One has a max speed of 112 mph. It can run 750 miles from its gasoline engine and fly for about 315 miles. For the environmentalists, PAL-V One also comes in biodiesel as well. And you would only need a Sports Pilot license to fly this machine.
It is only available in the US though.
2. Aero-X Hoverbike
Hoverbikes are a new craze. Even the US military wants hoverbikes for its soldiers. Coming in the markets in 2017, this air vehicle would be a trophy for the Star-War frenzy. Aero-X is more of a private arena flying craft that has a lift of about 12 feet and tops at 45 mph.
So, if you just wanna have fun and not considering serious locomotion, then Aero-X could be a good option. It costs around $85,000.
3. Aeromobil 3.0
The classiest of them all, Aeromobil 3.0 is the flying car to look for in the future. The car that looks like a hybrid between the Jetfire and Bumblebee, AeroMobil 3.0 would be in your garage by 2017, as promised by AeroMobil.
It also comes with an autopilot, in case you wish to sleep mid-air. It can travel up to 310 miles with a maximum speed of 100 mph. Its price has not yet been announced.
4. GF7
GF7 is like a jet running on the road or a Veyron in the air. This beast of a sports-jet hybrid flying car speeds up to 550 mph in the air on jet engine and converts to a humble zero emission EV when running on streets.
GF7 is still in design mode and is expected to cost somewhere around $3-5 million. Watch out for this one in particular.
5. Terrafugia’s Transition
Aptly named as Transition by its Massachusetts-based manufacturers Terrafugia, this flying car will definitely bring about a transition in human life. Looking like a plane, its prototype stole the show in Wisconsin airshow two years back.
The flying machine is priced at around $300,000.
6. Hyundai Flying Car
Hyundai unveiled its flying car concept two years ago but has not announced its consumer availability yet. The car looks like an a scaled up college project with rotors all around the driving seat.
Hyundai is the only traditional car company that is venturing into the new biz.
